Barcelona won their tenth Liga F game this season when they faced Athletic Club away from home. The Blaugrana won 4-0 in an enthralling game and secured their twelfth victory this season before heading into the international break.

Heading into the game, Barcelona’s squad seemed thin as the club was without a number of their key players due to injury. However, the depth of the squad was more than enough to overcome the challenge of the Basque side.

The home team started the match strongly and ensured the game was as evenly matched as possible. Athletic Club kept Barcelona from scoring for 36 minutes, one of the longest the team has gone before getting a goal in a single Liga F game this season. However, their resistance was eventually broken when Marta Torrejon connected with Caroline Graham Hansen’s cross into the box to open the scoring for the visitors.

The goal put Barcelona ahead of the game at halftime before the champions increased the tempo and intensity of the game and scored three more goals in the second half.

Caroline Graham Hansen went from provider to goalscorer in the 54th minute with a sublime finish on the edge of the box. The Norwegian forward switched flanks with Esmee Brugts and fired a rocket straight into the back of net to score Barcelona’s second goal.

Barcelona dominated for larger parts of the second half and eventually brought in rested players like Aitana Bonmati, Salma Paralluelo, and Keira Walsh in a bid to seal the game and secure all three points.

The subs paid off as Patri Guijarro arrived late in the box to score the third goal of the game after the ball was put in her path by Caroline Graham Hansen. A third goal with ten minutes left to play all but sealed the victory for the league champions.

However, Aitana Bonmati had other ideas, as the world’s best player scored a fourth in additional time after exchange passes with Graham Hansen in the Athletic box.

Barcelona won 4-0 away from home and maintained their lead at the top of the standings heading into the international break. With the international break now on and players off to represent their various countries, Barcelona can take a few days off from football action and recuperate.
