Barcelona Femeni continued their winning run as they defeated Real Betis 6-0 in the Liga F. Matchday 14 sent the league champions on a journey away from home in Seville, and as always, the Catalans showed no recognition for the away game, putting six goals beyond their opponents in an enthralling league match.

Bruna Vilamala scored Barcelona’s first goal in the 4th minute of the game. The young player turned past her marker before firing a low shot at the near post to open the scoring.

Barcelona kept pressing for more goals and it wasn’t until the 23rd minute that Esmee Brugts doubled the Blaugrana’s lead from close range. The Dutch player met Graham Hansen delivery into the box and saw her first attempt on goal saved before putting in the rebound.

Seven minutes later, Esmee turned provider for Caroline Graham Hansen to scored Barcelona’s third goal of the game. The Norwegian forward benefited from Esmee’s low cross as she converted from close range in the 30th minute.

Vicky Lopez finally got her goal in the 42nd minute after many failed attempts at getting her shot on target. The 17-year-old received Pina’s pass and fired straight on goal with little backlift; her shot found the bottom corner of the post, putting Barcelona four goals up at halftime.

The 17-year-old was unplayable, as she seemed to cover every blade of grass. She was at the center of every Barcelona attack, and she recovered more balls than any other player on the pitch, resulting in her being named the player of the match.

Barcelona went into the second half with all three points already secured thanks to their first-half performance. However, the league leaders did not take their foot off the pedal, as they struck two more times in the second 45 minutes.

In the 51st minute, Caroline Graham Hansen completed her brace in style firing a powerful shot into the top corner at the near post. Graham exchanged passes with Marta Torrejon whose elegant backheel pass sent the Norwegian through on goal for Barcelona’s fifth goal of the game.

Aitana Bonmati wrapped up the scoring for Barcelona when she converted from close range in the 75th minute. Claudia Pina played a perfect pass across the face of goal leaving the world’s best player with nothing to do but tap the ball into the back of the net.

The game ended 6-0 in favour of Barcelona who remain top of the Liga F standings at the end of Matchday 14. Barca’s next game comes away against Benfica in the UEFA Women’s Champions League on January 31.
