Matchday 6 in the Liga F featured Barcelona at home against Granada as the champions continued the defense of their league crown.

The Blaugrana were dominant as usual and totally outplayed the opposition, scoring six goals in the process. Although Granada were able to get on the scoresheet themselves, it was merely a consolation goal, and the Catalan giants secured another three points at home.

First Half

Kickoff at the Estadi Johan Cruyff was met with cheers from the home crowd as usual, and Barcelona rode on the wave of their fans support and started the game in remarkable fashion.

Patri Guijarro opened the scoring just five minutes in with a beautiful strike that found the bottom left corner. Barcelona quickly got themselves in front, established their dominance on the field very early, and completely outclassed the trailing Granada side.

The champions search for a second goal continued, and several chances were created. Asisat Oshoala, who was given her first start this season, attempted a header but saw her effort sail harmlessly over the crossbar.

Salma Paralluelo, also starting for the first time this season since returning from injury in the last game, came close to scoring more than once but failed to score thanks to good defending and excellent goalkeeping.

However, Barcelona’s efforts were rewarded in the 29th minute when Salma Paralluelo exchanged passes with Ona Battle before the latter rifled a shot on goal from the edge of the box to score Barcelona’s second goal of the night.

The game continued with Barcelona getting more dangerous with each attacking wave; however, the half ended with the Blaugrana 2-0 up.

Second Half

Barcelona came out baring their fangs in the second half, and they proved their lethality in attack before the final whistle was blown.

In the 59th minute, Ona Battle’s low cross into the box was met with resistance by the Granada defense, preventing Oshoala from scoring Barcelona’s third goal. However, Salma Parallluelo was quick to react to the loose ball and slotted home from close range. The young forward, who had been unlucky in front of goal in the first half, was happy to open her tally for the season. Barcelona were three goals up, and the game looked all set for another Barcelona victory.

The Blaugrana had a different idea, though, as they kept going even after scoring three goals. A round of substitutions was made that saw Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmati, and Mariona Caldentey all come on to the field to complete the game for Barcelona.

Two minutes after coming on, Mariona Caldentey scored Barcelona’s fourth of the night. An inch-perfect pass from Aitana Bonmati set up Mariona in front of goal, and the latter calmly chipped the ball over the onrushing Granada goalkeeper.

In the 80th minute, Aitana Bonmati dribbled her way into the box and squared the ball to Asisat Oshoala, who was waiting in front of goal to score Barcelona’s fifth goal of the night.

Two minutes later, the Nigerian forward was in position again to tap the ball in from close range when she met Mariona Caldentey’s cross at the far post.

In the last minute of the game, Granada had a rare attacking passage of play, and although Mapi Leon did enough to force the attacker away from goal, her back pass to Laura Perez, who arrived in the box just in time, saw her shot wriggle beneath Sandra Panos at the near post to get a consolation goal for Granada.

Barcelona finished the game 6-1 on the night and secured all three points to maintain their position at the top of the table. Due to the upcoming international break, Barcelona will not be in action again until November 5, when they play Sevilla at home.
