After the strike by the player’s union delayed the start of the Spanish domestic league by a week, Liga F finally resumed action this weekend. Barcelona paid a visit to Madrid CFF on Matchday 2 to commence the defense of their league crown.
Madrid CFF, who handed Barcelona their first defeat in the last league game of the season in the 2022–2023 season, were faced with the huge task of stopping the league champions. A task that proved to be too much for them as Barca ended the game with a 2-0 victory.
With a goal scored in each half, Barcelona starts their season with a win. Goals from Caroline Graham Hansen and Asisat Oshoala gave Barcelona the much deserved victory.
Claudia Pina delivered a cross in the 40th minute, and Caroline Graham Hansen delicately flicked the ball into the back of the net for the first goal. Patri Guijarro hit the frame of the goal in the second half as the champions went in search of a second goal to seal the win.
However, it wasn’t until the 83rd minute that Asisat Oshoala converted from close range to secure the win for Barcelona. Debutant Ona Batlle went on a blistering run down the left flank, evading three challenges from the opposition before laying the ball in the path of the Nigerian forward for an easy finish.
With the win, Barcelona secured victory in their first game of the new season.
