Barcelona were at home on Matchday 4 when they faced Real Sociedad, and the champions continued the defense of their league crown with a 3-0 win.

The Blaugrana proved themselves to be an unplayable opposition once again when they faced Sociedad in their fourth league game of the season.

First Half

Barcelona put up an amazing performance as usual, completely dominating the game from start to finish and scoring three goals in the process.

The first goal came in the 8th minute, when Sociedad goalkeeper spilled Mariona Caldentey’s shot inside the box. Norwegian forward Caroline Graham Hansen seized the opportunity and pounced on the loose ball to put Barcelona ahead in the game.

The rest of the half was played in the Sociedad half; however, Barcelona were unable to convert any of the chances created afterwards.

Second Half

The second half was a mirror image of the first, with the Catalan side proving to be an impregnable fortress once again.

However, after lots of chances and goalscoring opportunities created by the Blaugrana, the second goal came from team captain Alexia Putellas in the 52nd minute. Aitana Bonmati won the ball following a scramble in the box and laid it off to Alexia, who showed amazing composure to get past her marker before slotting the ball into the back of the net.

Chances upon chances came for the Blaugrana, with Mariona and Aitana almost getting on the scoresheet themselves but were denied by good goalkeeping. Ona Batlle came closest to scoring but saw her curling shot hit the frame of the goal.

Barcelona added the third in the 84th minute, when substitute Keira Walsh’s cross found the onrushing Graham at the far post. The Norwegian scored her second goal of the game and put Barcelona three goals up.

Esmee Brugts also came close to scoring a curler in the dying minutes of the game but was denied by a great save from the goalkeeper.

Barcelona won the game 3-0 and remains at the top of the Liga F table. The champions will play their next game away at Atletico Madrid on October 15.
