Spain has been crowned the new World Champions following their victory over England in the final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Going into the tournament, Barcelona Femeni had 18 players representing their various countries. However, that number decreased gradually as teams were eliminated from the competition.

The final played between Spain and England had 11 Barcelona Femeni players between them, nine of whom represented the Spanish national team and two who represented England.

With Spain now the reigning World Champions, the nine Barcelona players who represented Spain in the tournament are now World Cup winners.

Aitana Bonmati, Alexia Putellas, Irene Paredes, Laia Codina, Salma Paralluelo, Mariona Caldentey, Ona Batlle, Cata Coll, and Maria Perez are World Cup winners with Spain.

These nine players will return to Barcelona with a World Cup gold medal around their necks.

The World Cup has rewarded 12 Barcelona Femeni players with medals. Fridolina Rolfo won the bronze medal after Sweden defeated co-host Australia in a third-place match yesterday. England‘s right back Lucy Bronze and defensive midfielder Keira Walsh receive silver medals after finishing runners-up following their 1-0 loss to eventual winners Spain.

At the end of the World Cup, Barcelona can certainly boast of being the club with the most World Cup medals with one bronze, two silvers, and nine gold medals.
