Barcelona Femeni defeated Rosengard 7-0 in their fourth group stage game in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. It was a very entertaining game as Barcelona put up a stellar performance in what happened to be the Blaugrana’s last game of the year. Brimming with confidence and an urge to entertain their home fans, the Catalan giants destroyed their opponents ruthlessly, putting seven goals past them in a display of absolute class. The victory secured Barcelona’s spot in the quarterfinals of the Champions League with two group games to spare.

Totally dominating the game and dictating the tempo and intensity of the match from start to finish, the defending champions showed lethality in attack and refused to take their foot off the pedal until the final whistle.

Keira Walsh opened the scoring for Barcelona after receiving a pass from Aitana Bonmati inside the box to score her first goal in the Champions League. Later in the first half, Aitana Bonmati delivered a sumptuous back heel pass to send Caroline Graham Hansen through on goal for Barcelona’s second goal of the game.

Hungry for more goals after ending the first half 2-0, Barcelona hounded the opposition’s penalty area until they found a breakthrough in the 54th minute through Salma Paralluelo. The young forward made good use of her speed to power past her marker and score the third goal.

On the hour mark, Salma Paralluelo found the net again after connecting with Ona Batlle’s cross at the near post to put Barcelona 4-0 ahead in the game. Barça made it five when Claudia Pina finally scored from a right-footed half volley after several attempts at finding the back of the net.

The captain of the night, Marta Torrejon, scored Barcelona’s sixth goal in the 75th minute after Lucy Bronze headed Vicky Lopez’s delivery towards the far post back across the face of goal. Rosengard’s own player, Jessica Wik, delivered the final nail in the coffin when Martina Fernandez’s header bounced off the defender’s legs and into the back of the net.

Barcelona Femeni won 7-0 at home in the return leg of a fixture where they won 6-0 away in Sweden on the previous matchday in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
