Madrid CFF vs FC Barcelona Femeni

The 2022/2023 Liga F season has finally come to an end. Barcelona Femeni would be facing Madrid CFF in her last match of the league campaign. In a season where the Blaugrana have been crowned champions while maintaining an unbeaten record, Madrid CFF would aim to bring an end to that run.

After Sevilla ended the champion’s run on Matchday 29, the champions responded with a 3-0 victory over Athletic Club in what happened to be their last game at home this season.

The game against Madrid CFF would be the penultimate official game of the season for Barcelona, who will travel to Eindhoven to play Wolfsburg in the final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Madrid CFF, who holds the 5th position in the league standings, will be seeking to end the season with a win in front of their home fans. A win for the Madrid side would make them the second side to stop Barcelona from winning a league game this season. It would also make them the first team to defeat the Catalan giants since June 2021.

Head to head

Barcelona has met Madrid CFF once before this season, in the reverse fixture of the league game in October. The title holders won the game 7-0 in a convincing manner. Barcelona led 1-0 at halftime courtesy of Caroline Graham Hansen’s goal. However, the Catalan giants put six goals past Madrid CFF in the second half with doubles from Mariona Caldentey, former player Geyse Ferreira, and Ana Maria Crnogorcevic.

Barcelona’s Previous Match

Barcelona won their last game 3-0 against Athletic Club Bilbao. In what was their last home game of the season, the champions proved their worth with a dominant display that saw them clinch a win. An amazing response to their 1-1 draw against Sevilla that saw them drop points in the league for the first time in almost 2 years.

Last 5 games

We take a brief look at the performances of both teams in their last five games.

FC Barcelona Femeni

Already crowned champions, Barcelona has been unplayable throughout the season. The Catalan side has played their last 5 games against Athletic Club, Sevilla, Real Sociedad, Sporting de Huelva, and Atletico Madrid.

The champions have won all but one of those games. The only match in which they have failed to win this season ended in a 1-1 draw against Sevilla.

In their last five games, Barcelona has scored a total of 11 goals against their opponents while conceding three.

Madrid CFF

With just 10 points behind Levante UD, who will be playing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League next season, and sitting conveniently in the 5th position on the league standings. Madrid CFF’s last five games have been plagued with draws and losses. Within this period, the team scored 12 goals and conceded a total of six.

They have played against five teams, Valencia, Alhama, Real Madrid, Sporting de Huelva, and Sevilla. Their draw came against Sevilla in a 0-0 showdown, and their loss was a 3-2 defeat away to Real Madrid Femenino.

Matchday Squad

The squad list for the Barca Femeni players that will be available for the clash against Sevilla, has been released by the club. The list can be found on the club’s official Twitter account and other official media pages.

Missing from the squad list

The following players do not make the matchday squad list for the game against Sevilla: Caroline Graham Hansen, Lucy Bronze, and Fridolina Rolfo.

Battle of the day

With the race for the Pichichi still on, both sides have their top scorers at the top of the leading goalscorer’s chart. Madrid CFF’s Kundananji is in 2nd place with 23 goals, and Barcelona’s Asisat Oshoala sits in 3rd place with 21 goals. Both goal scorers have Levante UD’s Alba Redondo on top with 27 goals.

Asisat Oshoala jointly won the Pichichi with fellow teammate Geyse Ferreira last season. The Brazilian moved to Barcelona from Madrid CFF in what now seems like a fairytale, considering that Barcelona and Madrid CFF would be playing against each other in their last game of the season.

However, if there are going to be any changes in the top goalscorer’s chart, now would be the time. Although it is almost certain that Barcelona’s talisman will miss out on the Pichichi this year.

Injuries

Barcelona is still without the services of Lucy Bronze (knee), Fridolina Rolfo, and Gemma Font.

  1. I do believe all of the concepts you’ve offered for your post.
They are really convincing and can definitely work. Nonetheless,
the posts are too quick for starters. May just you please prolong them
a bit from subsequent time? Thanks for the post.

  2. I’ve been browsing on-line more than three hours these days, yet I by no means discovered any fascinating
article like yours. It is lovely value enough for me.
In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made just right content material as
you probably did, the net can be much more useful than ever before.
