It is no news that Barcelona Femeni is a team filled with talents. Every position on the team is adequately secured by talented professionals, ranging from experienced and established veterans to young and up-and-coming talents in women’s football.
In the last five years, the Catalan side has proven itself to be a force to be reckoned with in the world of women’s football. Consecutive domestic wins coupled with four consecutive appearances in the final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League are more than enough to show that the Spanish club side means business.
Achieving such feats requires immense efforts from the club management, the coaching staff, and the players themselves. With a perfect blend of teamwork and individual brilliance, the club has achieved a lot in recent years. These accomplishments have seen the Catalan giants produce some of the most talented and outstanding players in women’s football.
Speaking of talents, at the top of the list is club captain Alexia Putellas, who was the recipient of the last two UEFA Women’s Player of the Year, Ballon d’Or, and FIFA The Best awards. The Spanish midfielder was well above her peers for two consecutive seasons before picking up an ACL injury, which saw her miss the Euros and be sidelined for almost a year.
Her injury, however, was not quite enough to derail Barcelona’s progress. In her absence, another midfield talent took on the mantle of leadership and led Barcelona to victory, both at home and in Europe. Aitana Bonmati delivered an amazing performance in the 2022–2023 season, a performance that helped Barcelona secure the Liga F title and a second European crown. Her incredible showing saw her named the UEFA Women’s Champions League Player of The Season.
On the international stage, Aitana Bonmati represented Spain, where she put up a performance worthy enough for her to be named the Most Valuable Player in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. All these achievements, both at home and abroad, saw the 25-year-old receive the UEFA Best Women Player of the Year for the 2022–2023 season.
Considering the number of years and seasons spent by Putellas and Bonmati at Barcelona, where they’ve consistently delivered at a high level, addressing both superstars as veterans would not be too far fetched.
However, Barcelona has a certain teenager, whom they signed on a free transfer last summer, in their ranks. The teenage sensation boasts an illustrious career filled with team trophies and individual awards despite only being 19 years old.
Former professional athlete and football player, Salma Paralluelo is one of a kind and another scary piece of artillery in Barcelona’s arsenal. At club level, the youngster won the Liga F and the UEFA Women’s Champions League, both in her first season at Barcelona.
On the international stage, Salma Paralluelo has quite the record that only a handful of players can boast of in football. The Spanish forward won the U17 Women’s World Cup, the U20 Women’s World Cup, and the FIFA Women’s World Cup with the senior national team.

Individually, Paralluelo was awarded the Best Player in the U17 Women’s World Cup, and she was named the Best Young Player of the Tournament in the recently concluded FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Salma Paralluelo also came fifth in the voting for the UEFA Best Women’s Player of the Year. All these achievements at the age of 19, speak about the potentially outstanding future that lies ahead for the youngster.
Barcelona Femeni also has other talented young players in their ranks, with the likes of Claudia Pina, Cata Coll, Bruna Vilamala, Vicky Lopez, Guilia Dragoni, and newly signed Dutch player, Esmee Brugts all donning the Barcelona jersey heading into the upcoming season.
With all these talents at hand representing the team and achieving glory at early stages in their careers, one can only say that the future is bright for FC Barcelona Femeni.
