Here is how the FC Barcelona Femeni performed against Sevilla

Sandra Panos: 6.5

Cannot be blamed for the goal conceded. Didn’t have a lot to do at the beginning of the game as the Sevilla team was not allowed the spaces and clearcut chances in the first half of the game. Stayed alert in the game when the Sevilla were pressing for another goal.

M. Fernandez: 6

The 18-year-old right-back did well to retain possession on the right side of the Barcelona defense. Was shown a yellow card in the 36th minute of the game after stopping a counterattack action of the Seville. Was decent in attack and defense, but was not able to create any goal-scoring chances

Irene Parades: 7

One of the best performers of the day coordinated the defense and did well covering for Jana Fernandez as the last defender. Controlled the defense line. Almost got on the scoresheet with a superb individual strike effort.

Jana Fernandez: 6.5

She helped in retaining possessions and tried to drive the ball forward. Did well covering for Paredes when she was marking the opponent one on one. Was caught out in the counter-attack that led to the Seville goal. Was later moved to play at the right back position towards the end of the game.

L. Corrales: 6

Did well to whip some cross into the box and combined well with Viky Lopez and Mariano Caldentey on the left wing. Was solid in defense winning a couple of important aerial balls. Lost the ball that ended up creating the chance that allowed the Seville team to score a goal.

Vicky Lopez: 6.5

Played from the midfield. Tracks back to mark her opponents when she loses the ball. Was running through the left wing. Took some responsibility to whip the corner kick in and took some free kicks. And display some silky footwork and dribbles. Should have gotten a goal or an assist.

Keira Walsh: 7

The better performer in the midfield and one of FC Barcelona’s best performers of the day. Played well as the pivot being the first receiver of the ball and always making herself available as an option for her teammate created a chance for Vicky Lopez in the early minutes of the game with a through short pass, which the Barcelona teenager squared for Bruna. Comfortable movement in the middle of the part to evade the Sevilla press, retain possession and circulate the ball well. Kept winning possession back for the Barcelona team.

Bruna Vilamala: 6

A left-footed effort that went wide in the 13 minutes, had a chance to score from a cutback chance from Vicky Lopez in the early minutes of the game.

Mariona Caldentey: 6.5

Was trying to create chances from the left wing in the early minutes of the game with her footwork. She tried to create attacking chances by dropping deep to midfield and the center forwards possession. Her dribbles and run helped the Catalan team to retain possession and evade the opposition press and move the ball out of the tight spaces. But, she wasn’t able to combine well for a goal-scoring chance with the team in the first half of the game, and till the end.

Geyse: 6.5

Wasn’t getting on the ball as much as she would have wanted. And was not given a chance and space to shoot her shot. She was not also able to combine well with the midfielders and the winger. Combined well with Crnogorcevic in the 29 minutes to create a chance but was not able to get it in the net. Almost scored the equalizer with a brilliant effort but was denied by the crossbar.

Crnogorcevic: 7

Scored the only Barcelona goal of the match, to help the Catalan team salvage a draw. Saw plenty of the ball on the right side of the Barcelona attack but was not able to get her cross and the ball in dangerous places due to the opposition’s block. Crossed a ball to Caldentey that was volleyed over the crossbar. Created a chance for Vicky Lopez in the last minutes of the first half but, the 16-year-old wasn’t able to get her foot on it. Was later moved to the left-back position as the game progresses.

SUBSTITUTES

Brought experience and creativity into the midfield. Also helped to retain ball possessions going forward.

Was solid in defense and helped the team retain possession. Brought composure to the backline.

Came on in the 66th minute and played an important role to help the League champions get a draw. She assisted the goal and almost got a goal herself. And her highlight of the match was when she headed and cleared a goal-bound ball that would have doubled the Seville goal lead.
