The 67th Ballon d’Or Awards ceremony was held yesterday in France, and Aitana Bonmati was named the Ballon d’Or winner in the women’s category. The event was graced with the presence of active male and female football stars and legends of the sport. With nominations for the award announced prior to the day, it was time to find out who won football’s most prestigious individual title.

Barcelona Femeni stars Aitana Bonmati, Patri Guijarro, Salma Paralluelo, Mapi Leon, and Fridolina Rolfo were all present at the event. Also representing the club were head coach Jonatan Giraldez, who was also a nominee, club president Joan Laporta, and Barcelona Femeni sporting director Xavier Puig.

Barcelona and Spanish midfielder Aitana Bonmati received the Ballon d’Or award ahead of Chelsea and Australian forward Sam Kerr and Barcelona and Spanish forward Salma Paralluelo, with the latter two coming in at second and third place, respectively.

Aitana Bonmati was the favorite to win the award after being named Europe’s Best Player following her outstanding performances in the Champions League and the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The 25-year-old was named UWCL Player of the Season and also received the World Cup Golden Ball at the Women’s World Cup.

Aitana Bonmati received the Ballon d’Or award with eight-time winner Lionel Messi, who won the award for the male category.

Aitana’s success at the Ballon d’Or makes it three consecutive Ballon d’Or wins for the Blaugrana, with Alexia Putellas winning the previous two editions.

  1. I think that what you said made a lot of sense. However, consider this, what if you added
    a little information? I am not saying your information isn’t good., however what if you added a title that grabbed
    folk’s attention? I mean Aitana Bonmati wins Ballon D’Or
    Award is a little vanilla. You might glance at Yahoo’s front page and see how they
    create news titles to grab viewers to open the links.
    You might try adding a video or a related picture or two to grab readers interested
    about everything’ve written. Just my opinion, it might bring your posts a little livelier.
