Matchday 3 in the UEFA Women’s Champions League featured a game away from home for Barcelona Femeni as the Catalan side traveled to Malmo, Sweden, to play against Rosengard in their third group stage game of the competition. Barcelona Femeni handed down a 6-0 defeat to their hosts in ruthless fashion.

The Blaugrana showed dominance and lethality in front of goal as they put six goals past Rosengard. In the 16th minute, Aitana Bonmati’s delivery into the box was turned in by a Rosengard defender for an own goal

Salma Paralluelo scored in the 37th minute, guiding Ona Batlle’s pass into the back of the net for Barcelona’s second goal of the night. The Spanish forward had come close to opening the scoring for the defending champions twice in the first ten minutes of the game but saw both efforts saved by the goalkeeper.

Barcelona scored again on the stroke of halftime when Patri Guijarro found the top corner from the edge of the box after being teed up by Salma Paralluelo.

The first half ended 3-0 in favor of Barcelona, as the visitors looked to have secured all three points with their stellar performance.

Barcelona scored three more goals in the second half, with Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmati finding the back of the net from close range to put her team 4-0 up in the 62nd minute.

Barcelona had a penalty shout shortly after when Mariona Caldentey was brought down in the box but the referee waived the appeal. The visitors were eventually awarded a penalty in the 73rd minute when Claudia Pina was brought down in the box. Mariona Caldentey stepped up and calmly converted the spot kick to make it five goals for Barcelona.

Martina Fernandez made her debut in the Champions League when she was brought on to replace Marta Torrejon late in the second half. At the end of regulation time, the defender scored her first goal in the competition from a corner kick for Barcelona’s sixth of the night.
