13 active squad members of the Barcelona Femeni squad were listed to represent their various countries during the international break.  With players representing countries like Spain, England, Norway, Italy, and the Netherlands on international duty, let’s take a look at the performances of these players after the first round of international games.

Aitana Bonmati and Ona Batlle score in Spain’s 3-0 victory over the Netherlands

A semifinal clash in the UEFA Women’s Nations League pitted Barcelona Femeni stars against each other. Representing the Netherlands, Esmee Brugts played against eight of her club teammates when the Oranjes locked horns with the Spanish national team.

Cata Coll, Salma Paralluelo, Aitana Bonmati, Mariona Caldentey, Irene Paredes, Ona Batlle, and Vicky Lopez all starred for the World Champions in their 3-0 victory over the Dutch side. 

Aitana Bonmati and Ona Batlle scored Spain’s second and third goals, respectively, sending La Roja into the final of the Nations League, where they will play against France on February 27.

Barcelona’s midfield prodigy, Vicky Lopez, received her first call-up to the senior national team and was handed her debut in the game against the Netherlands.

The 17-year-old player was brought on in the second half and recorded her first appearance for the Spanish women’s senior national team.

Caroline Graham Hansen injured on international duty

Barcelona’s Norwegian talisman Caroline Graham Hansen was forced off the pitch in the first half of Norway’s clash against Croatia. The right winger scored Norway’s second goal with a powerful low shot into the bottom corner but could not celebrate the goal as she picked up a knock in the process.

Hansen was eventually replaced in the 52nd minute after holding on to her hamstring, causing growing concerns for Barcelona, who are currently battling an injury crisis that has plagued a few of their key players. The evolution of her injury will be communicated as soon as tests are carried out to determine the nature and extent of the forward’s injury.
