Later today at 13:00 CET, Barcelona Femeni will discover their opponents in the Copa de La Reina semifinal. The Catalan team secured their place in the competition’s last four following an 8-0 victory over Sevilla in the quarterfinals. Prior to their quarterfinal match against Sevilla, the Liga F champions made light work of Fundacio Albacete in a 6-0 victory in the round of 16.
Barca Femeni were disqualified from the competition last season due to fielding an ineligible player and lost their hold on the domestic title. However, this season brings a new opportunity for the Blaugrana to reclaim the Copa de la Reina trophy. But to accomplish this task, Barcelona will have to go through one of three possible teams in the semifinals to secure their chances of playing in the competition’s final match.
Barcelona Femeni will be paired in the semifinals with either Atletico de Madrid, Real Sociedad, or Athletic Club. A win for the Catalan queens will set them up for a final against the winner of the other semifinal fixture.
