The finalists of the 2023–2024 UEFA Women’s Champions League season have been decided, and Barcelona Femeni will be locking horns with Olympique Lyonnais on May 25 in Bilbao.
Both sides secured their spot in the final after an entertaining round of semifinal games where they emerged victorious over their counterparts.
Barcelona Femeni progressed to the final after defeating Chelsea 2-0 in the second leg of their semifinal clash. The Catalan giants staged their dramatic comeback after losing 1-0 to the English club in the first leg. Their qualification sets them up for a fourth consecutive appearance in the final of the European competition which they have lifted twice in their history.
A victory in both legs against Paris Saint Germain sent Lyon all the way to the final in Bilbao. A 3-2 victory in the first leg, followed by a 2-1 victory in the second leg secured a spot in the finals for the eight time winners.
Lyon has always emerged victorious everytime both sides locked horns in the UWCL and thus, making them favorites to lift the trophy against an all-conquering Barcelona side.
It remains to be seen who will be crowned European Champions on Saturday, May 25 when both sides clash in a one-legged clash in Bilbao. Will Lyon get the better of the champions and win the trophy for the eighth time or will Barcelona finally break the curse and defeat the French champions to retain their European crown and lift the title for the third time in their history.
