Another exciting game in the Spanish Primera Division was filled with drama and goalmouth action as Barcelona Femeni defeated Real Madrid away from home. The Blaugrana came out ahead in the top-of-the-table clash that featured both sides at the top of the league rankings.

Barca won 5-0 in the first leg of the fixture back in November, when they hosted the Madrid side, and became troublesome visitors earlier tonight when they defeated their hosts 3-0 away from home.

Fridolina Rolfo opened the scoring ten minutes into the game with a simple tap-in from close range after being assisted by Ona Batlle. A beautiful exchange of passes between Ona Batlle, who featured on the right side of the pitch, and Caroline Graham Hansen led to the Spanish fullback sending a low cross across the face of goal. The delivery was slotted in by Fridolina Rolfo, who struck the ball past the goalkeeper at the far post.

Although Real Madrid tried to get back into the game with a heavy press that momentarily forced the Catalan team to lose possession of the ball, the team in white caused no significant threat to the Blaugrana defense.

Claudia Pina and Caroline Graham Hansen saw their efforts on goal veer wide off the mark as Barcelona sought for a second goal to secure their victory. Salma Paralluelo hit the crossbar with a beautiful dipping effort late in the first half as both sides headed down the tunnel at halftime with the score at 1-0 in favor of Barcelona.

In the second half, Aitana Bonmati doubled Barcelona’s lead with a well crafted goal courtesy of Caroline Graham Hansen. Keira Walsh freed the Norwegian with a delightful long pass, and the forward bullied her marker to lay the ball up for Aitana Bonmati to convert in the 55th minute.

In the 67th minute, Caroline Graham Hansen dazzled in the box as she danced her way through a flurry of opposition defenders before finally shrugging off Olga Carmona’s tackle and firing a low shot into the back of the net.

The goal capped a player of the match performance by the Norwegian, who was absolutely stunning all through the game.

Although Cata Coll was called into action and forced to make a couple of saves late in the game, Barcelona kept a clean sheet, and ended the game with a 3-0 victory over their arch rivals.

The win extends Barcelona’s lead at the top of the table to twelve points with nine games left to play in the league. The Blaugrana are a step closer to defending their league title and claiming the Liga F crown for the fifth consecutive year.
