Football action resumed this weekend in the Liga F, and Barcelona Femeni faced Eibar at home in their 11th league game of the season. The Blaugrana ended the game with a 5-0 victory over the visitors, with summer signing Esmee Brugts scoring a hat-trick in the game.
Return from international break and a growing list of injuries seemed to knock the league leaders off their rhythm as they struggled to connect in the final third throughout the first half. In similar fashion to her second goal, Brugts completed her hattrick tapping the ball home at the near post following Luis Corrales’s delivery in the 66th minute.
The Netherlands star was awarded the MVP of the match at the end of the game following her hattrick of goals in the space of eight minutes.
Barcelona hit Eibar for five with two minutes left to play when substitute Ari Arias finished right in front of goal after being assisted by Lucy Bronze.
The victory ensured that Barcelona maintained their lead at the top and continued their winning streak this season.
