Barcelona Femeni played their last league game of the year away from home when they faced Granadilla Tenerife on Matchday 12. The champions defeated the islanders 2-0 in an entertaining match.

Playing with their usual style of dominating the opponents while keeping possession of the ball, Barcelona Femeni proved unplayable for the opposition for majority of the game. However, tenacity in defense by Tenerife, made the Blaugrana wait until the second half to get on the scoresheet.

Tenerife’s defensive resilience was undone in the 49th minute when Barcelona were awarded a penalty for a handball in the box. Caroline Graham Hansen stepped up and coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net, thus opening the scoring for the league leaders.

In search of another goal to secure all three points, Barcelona kept attacking the opposition’s box and found a breakthrough in the 62nd minute when Keira Walsh scored to make it 2-0. Aitana Bonmati found the English midfielder on the edge of the box, and the latter took a deft touch before curling a shot into the far corner of the goal.

Towards the end of the game, Barcelona Femeni survived a scare from the hosts but had Sandra Panos to thank for making two crucial saves to keep them ahead in the game. Tenerife attacker Mari Jose broke free of the defence twice but was shut down by Barcelona’s goalkeeper to deny any chance of a comeback and maintain the Catalan side’s clean sheet.

The match ended with a 2-0 victory for Barcelona Femeni as Liga F comes to a close for the year.
