Salma Paralluelo wins Best Young Player Award

Earlier today, in the final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup played in Sydney, Australia, Spain defeated England 1-0 to be crowned the new World Champions for the first time in their history.

Spain and FC Barcelona Femeni forward Salma Paralluelo was named the tournament’s Best Young Player. The teenage forward received the award for her excellent performance throughout the World Cup, in which she contributed two goals to Spain’s victorious run. Her goals came at important moments for the Spanish national team, with a late winner in the quarterfinals against the Netherlands and an opener in the semifinals against Sweden.

Salma Paralluelo played in all of Spain’s matches in the World Cup, including the final, where she played the full duration of the game as she watched her country defeat England by a single goal. The 19-year-old made five starts in seven appearances, coming on as a substitute twice and scoring both times.

Her performance comes off the back of an amazing season in club football in her first season with Barcelona, where she had 12 goals and 5 assists in all competitions.

Salma Paralluelo, who won the U17 World Cup with Spain in 2018 and the U20 World Cup in 2022, has now won the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup with the senior team. A beautiful start to a promising career for the young forward.
