With the start of a new football season closing in, action in Liga F will officially resume in September. Barcelona Femeni, who are the league’s defending champions, would embark on another season-long journey to defend their crown. The Spanish and European champions have resumed training for their preseason matches, which start later this month.

However, the Catalan giants will be without a handful of their players at the start of the season as a result of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup. Barcelona Femeni had eighteen of her players called up to represent their various countries in the World Cup. And although some have been eliminated, sixteen players made it to the round of 16, but four of them have been eliminated. Thus, twelve of the players have advanced to the quarterfinals, which means that their stay in Australia and New Zealand has been extended.

Barcelona Femeni players that participated in the World Cup include: Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmati, Ana Maria Crnogocevic, Caroline Graham Hansen, Ingrid Engen, Geyse Ferreira, Guilia Dragoni, Asisat Oshoala, Keira Walsh, Lucy Bronze, Fridolina Rolfo, Salma Paralluelo, Laia Codina, Irene Paredes, Ona Batlle, Mariona Caldentey, Cata Coll, and Maria Perez.

The players who went to the World Cup to represent their various countries will receive an extended vacation due to their participation in the tournament.
